Sojourner #082: From The Field: A Testimony of God's Saving Grace

"So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11, ESV)

From the Field: A Testimony of God’s Saving Grace

As part of our ongoing partnership with HeartCry Missionary Society, we are grateful to share this recent and encouraging update from the mission field, a reminder that the Lord is faithfully at work, drawing sinners to Himself through the ordinary means of the preaching of His Word.

HeartCry missionary Kien Proom, who is featured in the HeartCry documentary Unstained – Pure & Undefiled, Part 3, recently shared a joyful report of baptism and new faith in Christ.

He writes:

“I’m excited to share that a sister named S. recently decided to put her faith in Jesus Christ! She has been coming to church regularly. When she first joined us, I told her I would not pressure or force her to believe. Instead, I invited her to hear my teachings and the Word of God. God worked in her heart, and now she has faith in Jesus!”

This testimony beautifully reflects the patient, gospel-centered ministry HeartCry is known for, a ministry that places full confidence not in pressure, persuasion, or human wisdom, but in the sovereign work of God through His Word. As Scripture reminds us, “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).

We rejoice with our partners at HeartCry Missionary Society and with our brother Kien Proom in this evidence of God’s saving grace. May this report encourage us to pray with renewed hope, to support the work of gospel proclamation, and to trust the Lord to bring fruit in His perfect time.

How You Can Pray for HeartCry Missionary Society

As we give thanks for this testimony, we also recognize our continual dependence upon the Lord. Please join us in prayer for HeartCry Missionary Society and the missionaries they support around the world.

  • Pray for the faithful preaching and teaching of Scripture, trusting that God will continue to use His Word to bring life where there is spiritual death (Isaiah 55:10–11; Romans 1:16).

  • Pray for new believers, like our sister S., that they would be firmly rooted in Christ, growing in repentance, faith, and obedience through the ongoing ministry of the local church (Colossians 2:6–7).

  • Pray for missionaries, that they would labor with humility, patience, and endurance, relying not on human wisdom or methods but on the power of God working through His Word (1 Corinthians 2:1–5).

  • Pray for the strengthening of local churches, that they would be built up through sound doctrine, faithful shepherding, and lives shaped by Scripture (Acts 20:27).

This testimony stands as a clear reminder that God’s Word is sufficient. It is the Word of God, faithfully taught, patiently explained, and powerfully applied by the Holy Spirit, that brings about true conversion. The gospel needs no embellishment and no coercion. As the Lord has promised: His Word does not return void, but accomplishes all that He purposes (Isaiah 55:11).

This update is shared in accordance with HeartCry Missionary Society’s media and communications policy as part of our ongoing partnership in distributing their approved mission reports and media releases.
